Dealing with Disappointment
The Christian life can sometimes feel like a roller coaster ride when strong hope and faith collide with an unexpected reality. When our prayers aren't answered as we desire and our dreams become shattered, disappointment is the natural result.
Psalm 34:10
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.
- This promise is for those who seek the Lord — those who are saved by faith in Christ and seeking to know Him more. Seeking God helps us grow in faith. Through our experiences, we discover that God is consistently reliable. He can take our disappointments and turn them into opportunities for our growth. When we recognize this, we arrive at a powerful understanding: the all-powerful God of the universe is actively working for our good.
- No matter how painful your disappointment may be, God's response always begins with a simple command: "Trust me. Trust me."
Scripture Application for Dealing with Disappointment:
- Come to Jesus Christ with your disappointment, trusting him to meet you and change your heart (Psalm 40:1–3).
- Confess that you are longing for something else more than him. Ask him to forgive you through the cross. Receive assurance of complete forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
- Plead for the work of the Spirit to change your heart, strengthen your faith, and enable you once again to experience Jesus Christ as your all-satisfying treasure (John 6:35).

God, in His infinite love, relentlessly pursues His children for their good and His glory. He is deserving of our unwavering commitment and utmost devotion. Let's unite in prayer for each other, pastors, churches, missionaries, evangelists, teachers, salvation for the lost, and the advancement of God's Kingdom Agenda, knowing that our prayers are powerful and connect us deeply.
